Contributos da Psicologia da Arte para uma fundamentação crítica da Medicina Narrativa - 2ª Parte
A Medicina Narrativa (MN) propõe o desenvolvimento da competência de análise de narrativas por parte do cuidador de saúde, pelo seu resultado na capacidade de análise das histórias do paciente, no quadro de uma humanização da relação com este. Na perspectiva da MN aquela competência facilitará, entre outras coisas, a personalização do cuidado de saúde. Mas como fundamentar e explicar este efeito (e também demarcar os seus limites)? Procurando contribuir para uma resposta a esta questão, discute-se nesta apresentação processos e efeitos relevantes da “leitura” de narrativas, tal como investigados em Psicologia da Arte.

O que tem a idade a ver com isto? Women and Ageing: Towards equality, dignity and improvement of life and well-being
The rise of the new interdisciplinary field of ageing studies and cultural gerontology is a testimony of the need to revisit cultural representations of ageing and to view ageing not only as part of the life course but as a social and cultural construct. In 1972 Susan Sontag published “The Double Standard of Aging” in The Saturday Review, in which she lamented the fact that “there is a double standard of aging that denounces women with special severity. Society is much more permissive about aging in men” (Sontag, 1972, 31) Julia Twigg argues that age, like gender, is “one of the most profound elements that structure the social realm. Age and aging are deeply social” (2004, 70). Furthermore, old age is not only a collective but also an individual experience.
The seminar will work through the prevalent conceptions of ageing clashing against the reality of women who admit either “When I look into the mirror I do not recognize myself” or “When I read about my age in the papers I do not identify myself with what I read”.
