The richly illustrated work that Ambroise Paré, the king's surgeon, published in 1585, are the result of over forty years of practice and writting. Embracing all asptects of surgery, Ambroise Paré offers, in a savory language, and despite all the secret keepers, the sum of his time's knowledge, illuminated by his vast experience and love of life.

He registers surgery with humanism that goes from the knowledge of the body to the contemplation of nature, admirable in its order and its most suprising wonders.
