Lecture with Prof. Hélder Trindade
"Memories and Reflections, Passions Excluded"
The lecture will begin with an approach to a doctor's experience with the Portugal's National Health System, and the moment in which he pays a service in the outskirts. The experience of contacting the patient is compared to what is the medical practice today, from the author's pint of view. The thread relates to what's narrated in the Até Sempre Senhor Doutor novel, where a doctor's experiences since the 1980's until current times are described, containing experiences in various medical fields. An attempt to analyse the medical narrative, what it entails beyond the doctor-patient dialogue, will be made. The issues of trust and doctor-patient relationship, in a society where information techonolgy takes on a highlighted role, will be approached from a personal perspective, examining the medical narrative in a borad scope.
